Credentials that matter
- Board certification (ABPS, ABFPRS, or relevant specialty board)
- Hospital privileges at an accredited hospital
- Fellowship training in the specific area
- High annual case volume in this exact procedure
- Before-and-after portfolio with depth and consistency
Questions to ask in consultation
- Which implants do you offer, and which do you recommend for me, and why?
- What's your capsular contracture rate?
- Do you discuss BIA-ALCL with every patient and offer smooth-only options?
- If I ever want explant, do you perform en bloc capsulectomy?
- Show me cases with my body type at 6+ months post-op.
Red flags
- Pressure to book on the same day as your consultation.
- No willingness to discuss complications or revisions.
- Heavily filtered before/after photos with inconsistent lighting.
- Operating in a non-accredited facility.
- Unwillingness to put quotes and consents in writing.
