Microneedling recovery — week by week

What healing actually looks like — week by week — for microneedling.

Recovery timeline

  1. Day 0
Sunburned appearance, mild swelling. Tingling for 24 hours.
  2. Days 1–3
Skin is sensitive. No actives, retinols, exfoliants. Daily SPF essential.
  3. Week 1
Surface healing complete. Mild dryness or peeling possible.
  4. Weeks 2–4
First visible improvements in texture and tone.
  5. Months 1–3
Collagen remodeling produces final improvements. Series of 3–6 sessions over 6 months recommended.

Quick reference

Same day to next day for most.

What's normal vs. what to call about

Some swelling, bruising, asymmetry, numbness, and tightness are expected in the first weeks. Sudden severe pain, fever above 101°F, drainage, spreading redness, or one-sided swelling that worsens after improving warrant a same-day call to your surgeon.

See microneedling results across the recovery curve on the main Microneedling page.
