Recovery timeline

1. Day 0 (light peel)
   Mild redness. Makeup-ready within hours.
2. Day 0 (medium)
   Frosting visible during application. Significant peeling begins day 2–3.
3. Days 2–7 (medium)
   Active peeling — face shedding skin. Apply healing balm; do not pick. Avoid sun.
4. Days 7–14 (medium)
   New skin revealed; pink for 1–2 weeks. Daily SPF essential.
5. Days 0–10 (deep)
   Hospital-level monitoring sometimes required. Severe swelling, full re-epithelialization over 10–14 days.
6. Months 1–3
   Pigment continues to even out. Final result for medium peels at 1–3 months.

What's normal vs. what to call about

Some swelling, bruising, asymmetry, numbness, and tightness are expected in the first weeks. Sudden severe pain, fever above 101°F, drainage, spreading redness, or one-sided swelling that worsens after improving warrant a same-day call to your surgeon.
